Today I spent some time at the wake of an Aunt, she was my mother’s cousin. She recently succumbed to cancer, a fight that sees more loser’s than winners.

As I sat there, recalling memories of her from my life, and going as far back as childhood, a chill crept through me as I thought in resigned certainty, “there is nothing as inevitable and inescapable in life, as death”. And then I realized, to be primarily focused on our eventual end would be an even greater tragedy; simply reflecting on man’s inarguable fate, death; causes us to overlook the other single most important thing we possess and ought to be thankful for, which is life!

Death indeed is a reminder that all.. come to an end; but instead of living in the fear of what we know will one day come, I guess we should look at the other side of things, and celebrate life as often and as gratefully as we can, in our own individual ways.

What is the iPhone Guitar?

It was not exactly what I expected, and I was really curious… but before anything else… let me say I won’t tell you what it is… you just got to see it for yourself. Check the iPhone guitar video below.

So as you know by now, the iPhone guitar is actually a virtual guitar, it imitates the sound of a real guitar, and because of the iPhone’s touch screen, you can actually fret simple chords or individual notes and with your other hand, pluck or strum the strings.

As a guitar player, to be honest, it would actually be difficult to play an entire song on it, because it would be very difficult to fret, even with simple chords. What makes it difficult to fret is the ratio of the guitar neck width (which in this case is the width of the iPhone) against the width of the individual frets.

The graphics presents you with a view of a guitar neck, frets and strings… but you can only see six frets.

So ok, since we know this thing cannot actually be played.. what use do we have for it?

Well, for those who are interesting in learning guitar, this can be a great way for you to familiarize yourself with chords, what would be interesting is if the developer could come up with an application that would look like guitar tab, which teaches a person how a chord looks, and on what fret every individual finger were to fall.

Other than that, I’d say iPhone guitar is just another cool application to have on your iPhone to impress women or something.

So as far as it being a playable instrument to make music from? The iPhone guitar is crap; as an interesting application, really cool… but as an aid on learning how to play guitar, especially for beginners.. awesome!

The line screams out loud in bold letters, “the next generation weight loss solution”; that’s the first thing you see when you go to the “What is WeightView” page on the Weight View website.

A little below that, another line goes, “WeightView is a digital and personalized motivational tool that uses the power of visualization to help to achieve weight loss success!”

Is this another quick weight loss solution, like the many you see on TV infomercials? You know, the ones that make you reach for the telephone to call the 1800 number and give the nice operator your credit card number to charge.

So .. next generation weight loss solution? All you need to do to lose weight is keep viewing your picture? Is that all there is really? Is that all there is to Weight View, or are we missing something important.

Is WeightView really a weight loss solution that it claims to be, or just a tool to help you lose weight, or a source of motivation for you to keep at it?

What Is Weight View?
Weight View is a website that provides people with a service; give them a picture of yourself and they will give back images of yourself, less 5, 10, 15 pounds, or more. Yes, it is still you, after successfully shedding those pounds.

It is easy to use, and well, free. You can print the resulting Weight View images or save them on your desktop. One catch is, you do need to register and provide them with a valid email address, so they can send you your images.. and probably make you part of their mailing list of marketing purposes.

The idea is, you have a visual image of yourself later on, how you look if you keep with whatever diet or weight loss program you are involved in. I hardly think you would simply lose weight by just staring at your picture; if you thought that’s how it worked you might have been watching too much The Secret.

Speaking of the Secret, there is a line that goes “thoughts turn into things”, and if I remember correctly in order to keep your thoughts focused on the things that you want you need certain aids to help you visualize what you want, like a visual tool. Perfect, that is what is said on their site as well, they provide a tangible, visual tool to strengthen your motivation and resolve! But wait, now that gets a little confusing.

Don’t the words “solution” and “tool”, though a bit synonymous, mean different things with “weight loss” added before them. Hence weight loss solution can mean the overall concept or strategy to lose weight, while weight loss tool can be something you use to assist you in losing weight?

But anyways, it is free so what the heck, give it a try.

Does Weight View Work?
Of course, I believe it does… as long as you just don’t sit around visualizing or dreaming of a leaner you; instead you gotta get up and do something about it. You never got a chicken meal by just staring at a chicken meal photo did you? Either you buy it, cook it, steal it.. heck one way or another you gotta do something to acquire it… no chicken’s gonna come knocking on your door to self-fry in your kitchen.

Weight View Web Site Marketing
The service might be free, but the website does have a weight loss product mall, where you can choose a program or diet plan to purchase. In fact, fitness celebrity James Basedow is on a video interview on the site’s main page, and he says… “you see your success with Weight View, and then you turn it into reality with Fitness Made Simple”. Fitness Made Simple is John’s own fitness and weight loss product business. He also says, that Weight View and FMS is like a marriage made in heaven; I suppose they are both benefiting from that partnership. As a marketing person myself, I do not see anything wrong with that… as long as consumers have all facts necessary to help them make an educated and thus proper decision about buying the product.

So it looks like John went on record to endorse Weight View, at the same time Weight View has his Fitness Made Simple product banner on the main page.

Our Weight View Conclusion?
Whether weight loss solution or weight loss tool… one thing is certain, no weight loss program nor diet plan will ever be successful without the proper aids to strengthen your resolve and keep you in the program or plan long enough to make you SEE results… regardless if the motivation be something viewed, simply in your head, perceived or felt.
