How Much Water Should You Drink A Day
Do you drink like a fish or hardly like a goat? Just how much water should you drink a day, anyway?
There are many different studies that give many different recommendations, but before you go on take these as the bible espousing the truth about just how much water should you drink a day, consider this. It actually really depends on what your body needs, and would depend on several factors including your health, how active you are and your living environment.
A news story on Yahoo reveals that though no single formula fits everyone, knowing more about your body’s need for fluids will help you estimate how much water to drink each day.
How Much Water Do We Need?
Everyday we lose water through our breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements; and for your body to function properly, we must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and food that contain adequate amounts of water.
A couple of approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate.
Factors that also influence how much water we need in a day are exercise, environment, illness or health conditions and pregnancy or breast feeding.
Other Sources of Water
Drinking water is not the only way to replenish our body fluids, food also provides a significant portion of fluid needs. On average, the food we eat provides about 20 percent of total water intake, while the remaining 80 percent comes from water and beverages.
Many fruits and vegetables like such as watermelon and cucumbers are nearly 100 percent water by weight. Beverages like as milk and juice are also comprised mostly of water. Even beer, wine and caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea or soda help but these should not be a major portion of your daily total fluid intake. Drinking an adequate amount of water is still the best way to replenish body fluid, it’s also the healthiest being calorie-free; inexpensive and readily available.
So just how much water should I drink a day, you might ask?
2.5 litres of water per day, for a healthy adult and this intake is to be increased during periods of hot weather or during and after periods of physical activity.

Why drinking water is a good diet tip.
Your brain does not distinguish well between hunger and thirst. When humans were evolving there were no chips or chocolate candy, not even bread. You had to eat fruits and tubers—just about everything you ate contained significant water, while drinking water was problematic. So you evolved with food satisfying thirst. This is why you think you’re hungry when really you’re thirsty.
